Greater transparency in Deprivation of Liberty Proceedings by Court of Protection heralded by landmark legal ruling

A judge in the Court of Protection (set up under the Mental Capacity Act 2005) has ruled that a case brought against a local authority in relation to the Deprivation of Liberty safeguards was of specific public interest and therefore could be reported ‘in real time’ and with ‘fairly generous access to material’.
